Aki Goes to Bollywood in Berkeley

Admission : $15 in advance

$20 at door

Description:
Aki Goes To Bollywood is a highly entertaining act fronted by dynamic, charismatic and hard-hitting blues singer/harmonica player Aki Kumar. It delivers true American cross-cultural music by blending Retro Bollywood hits with Delta blues jams and ferocious blues harmonica.

Though some instrumental albums and DJs have attempted to rearrange Bollywood music mixed with other genres, never before has an Indian blues musician fronting an American band so triumphantly recorded songs by the Indian film industry's biggest stars.

Born and raised in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, Kumar has long established his mark on the West Coast blues scene as a top-notch blues vocalist, harmonica player & entertainer. A master of the hugely influential Chicago blues sound, Kumar inherits his style from the harmonica legends of the 1950s and 60s. Aki has a unique voice in the genre, blending elements of blues harmonica pioneers of yesteryear with a signature sound of his own. With the launch of Aki Goes To Bollywood, Kumar is pushing the blues into exciting new directions with his brand new "Bollywood Blues" sound.
