There was little time to celebrate independence in India and Pakistan as large parts of the dominions were paralyzed with fear. Mobs ran wild as Muslims and Hindus battled to death and turned streets into rivers of blood.

7/11/1957Aga Sultan Sir Muhammad (1877-1957), Aga Khan III, spritual leader of Ismaeli Muhammedans, passed away. He worked for Britian in the WW I & II. Aga Khan was extremly rich, he once had himself weighed against a sack of diamonds belonging to him. He was also one among those who formed the Muslim League.

10/13/1905Sister Nivedita died.
1/22/1901Queen Victoria (1819-1901) passed away at Osborne House, Isle of Wight, South England, after a brief illness. She had been throned for almost 64 years, which is the longest reign in British history. She had given her name to an age ""Victorian Britain"".
2/24/1948The State of Junagarh, whose accession to India was protested by Pakistan in the UN Security Council, voted in favour of India in a popular referendum held on 20 February.
