Historical Event on 4/1/1935

The Reserve Bank of India was established as a Central Bank and the job of issuing notes was entrusted to this bank. The Commissioner's office which issued currency was abolished and was substituted by the Governer of the RBI. The issue offices scattered around the country came to be called as the regional offices of the Reserve Bank.

9/21/1984National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources and National Institute of Animal Genetics were set up. These institutes were initially located in the campus of southern regional station of National Dairy Research Institute, Bangalore. They were then shifted to Karnal in July 1985.
7/1/1999Two leaders of Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) are detained under National Security Act (NSA).
6/1/1996Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, former President of India, passed away.
