| 8/1/1905 | Horse drawn tram cars were closed down in Bombay. This service was started on May 9, 1874 with 20 tram cars and 200 horses. The very first day of its run, the number of passengers carried was 451 and the amount earned was Rs. 85/- on the last day it had 1360 horses and carried 71,947 passengers and earned Rs.4,260/. |

| 2/14/1929 | Devendra Lal was born in Varanasi. He made extensive studies of meteorites of Lunar rocks brought by the Apollo and Luna Missions and of material from the Ocean bed. He also evolved techniques to understand post events in the solar system from cosmic ray ""Signatures"". One of his most significant findings is that the intensity of cosmic rays during the last few million years has been the same as it is today. He was a geophysicist associated with the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. |
