Kochi, June 25 (IANS) The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) will ensure women get increased representation in its decision making, ending the male hegemony that was prevalent at the body, said an official and a top actor.
There are plans to give the Vice President's post to a woman and to increase the number of women in the committees, the actor told IANS on condition of anonymity.
"These are all suggestions that have come up in routine discussions and this will now be put before the annual general body meeting to be held soon. Since this is going to be a change from the existing by-laws, it would require amendment with the required support from the general body," said the actor.
Superstar Mohanlal is the current president of AMMA after he was elected at the last annual general body meeting. His term is for three years.
