Rajasthan braces for cold wave conditions on Tuesday too

Jaipur, Dec 20 (IANS) The Meteorology department on Monday warned of a cold wave in a few districts of western and eastern parts of Rajasthan for Tuesday too as the minimum temperatures in many districts of the state remained at sub zero degree on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Fatehpur shivered with minus 1.8 degree Celsius, Karauli at minus 0.1 degree, Churu and Sikar at 0.5 degree Celsius, Bhilwara at 1.4, Alwar at 1.6, Chittorgarh at 2.6 and Dholpur at 3.7 degree Celsius.

The eastern districts to be affected by the cold wave on Tuesday are Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Sikar while the western parts to be affected by the intense cold wave are a few parts of Hanumangarh district.

On Wednesday, there is no sign of a cold wave. But on later days, the met department has warned of intense fog in a few districts of the state.

From December 23, there shall be intense fog in Jhunjhunu and Sikar, said Met department officials.

In fact, as temperature remained sub zero in many districts, a thick sheet of snow was seen at many places such as in Jobner in Jaipur and in Fatehpur too. It's been four days that the temperature has been sub zero in Fatehpur.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted: "In the last few days, reports of frost have been received from Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Karauli, Bhilwara and Hanumangarh districts of the state. Crops can be saved from frost damage by light irrigation."

"For this, the Agriculture Department has been directed to spread the message widely among the farmers and the Energy Department has been directed to ensure adequate supply of electricity to the farmers in these districts," he added.
