Description: AID is a volunteer movement committed to promoting sustainable, equitable and just development in India.We are a volunteer-driven non-profit organizationstarted in 1991. Our focus is supporting grass roots development work and activism in India. We believe that problems such as illiteracy, unemployment, lack of health care, etc are all interconnected, and should be tackled in an interconnected manner. AID believes in an holistic approach and supports projects in literacy, rural development, women's empowerment, health care and environment.We invite project proposals fromIndia, review them in detail at our weekly meetings, communicate with them, very often visit the project site, check the credibility of the organization and then provide them financial and non-monetary assistance.AID Austin meets every Saturday at 5 pm in ENS Building, Room 115 at the University of Texas at Austin. AID is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations to AID are tax-exempt.
