3/17/1999	An international seminar on UN Peacekeeping was co-jointly hosted by Ministry of External affairs and Ministry of Defence at New Delhi from 17 to 19 March 1999. The seminar was conducted by HQ Army Training Command, Shimla on behalf of the Indian Army. A total of 126 foreign delegates from 71 countries participated in the seminar.
3/14/1931	First Indian talkie film 'Alam Ara' released at Majestic Cinema, Bombay. Directed by Ardeshir Irani, the film was 11,152 ft. long and was produced by Imperial Film Co., Bombay and beared censored No. 10043 on March 11. The most remarkable thing about this film was birth of sound in Indian films, it came with a bang and quickly displaced the silent movies and brought revolutionary changes in the whole set up of the industry.
2/28/2000	The Supreme Court orders notice to the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalitha, on a special leave petition filed by the State Government against the Madras High Court judgment upholding the trial court's order discharging her in the ""coal import case"".

1/3/1945	No. 8 Squadron becomes the first to convert onto the Spitfire VIII during the previous month and commencing operations on 3 January 1945 in the Kangaw area.
4/13/1919	Jallianwala Baug massacre. The great Indian tragedy occured in Amritsar which claimed 389 lives and wounded 1,516 activitists fighting for Indian independence. Early in 1919, the Rowlatt Act (Black Act) was passed. This authorized the Government to imprison any person without any trial and conviction in a court of law. This furious act was under the guidence of cruel Brigedier General R. E. H. Dyer and his 50 men troop. Michael O' Dwyer was then the Governor of Punjab who naturally defended the action. This day is observed as Jallianwala Baug Day.
