Mumbai, Aug 22 (IANS) Palak Siddhwani will be seen essaying Sonu in the show "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah".

According to reports, actress Nidhi Bhanushali, who earlier played the role, quit the show because she wanted to concentrate on education.

Actress Jinal Jain was also in the running for the role, but Palak bagged the role and will soon be seen on the show. Earlier, Nidhi had replaced Jheel Mehta as Sonu in 2012.

The newcomer has done several ads. She was also part of a popular web-series starring Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra in lead roles.

For the past few episodes in the show, the others characters Tappu, Goli and Gogi are seen discussing Sonu's return.

Palak, however, says she is yet to get confirmation from makers.

"I haven't got any confirmation from the makers. I did a mock shoot day before yesterday and I am waiting for the revert," Palak told TOI.
